BENZi Excelbond is a two pack water-based epoxy coating specially designed as a universal primer that provides good adhesive strength to the substrate surface ready for subsequent topcoat. This high performance primer can be applied on variety of smooth substrate such as ceramic tiles, glass, masonry, plastered wall, concrete floor, wood, ferrous & non-ferrous metals, for exterior and interior use. Besides, it is efflorescence and alkaline resistant, having excellent moisture tolerant property that can be served as a protective moisture barrier against rising damp through the concrete floor as well as penetrating damp through plastered wall, hence preventing paint defects arising from dampness. Due to its unique characteristic, it is not only used as an adhesion promoting primer for most substrates, but also as an ideal dampness solution for masonry, plastered wall, concrete floor & etc. It is a specially developed green product that has less of an environmental impact & less detrimental to human health.

* Recommended to dilute the primer coat with 20% Water as to provide better penetration & adhesion to concrete surface.

Surface Preparation

Ensure the surface to be painted is clean, dry & free from dirt, oil, grease & other contaminants. Remove all loose or powdery residues by brushing or scraping with a stiff fibre brush under running water or by using high pressure water jet. Areas affected by mould, lichen, algae or fungus must be treated with MCI Micro Kill. Repair defects with a suitable filler or putty. Avoid painting where surface is high in moisture content or during wet weather. Newly laid concrete surface must be allowed to cure for at least 28 days, ensure the surface is below 16% moisture content as measured by protimeter and alkalinity below PH9 prior to painting.
 
Mixing Ratio (By Volume) :  4 : 1 (Base : Hardener)
Binder :  Epoxy and modified curing agent epoxy
Finish :  Matt
Color :  White
Thinner :  Water
Solid Content  :  50% (by weight); 35% (by volume)
Dry Film Thickness  :  35 - 40 microns / coat
Theoretical Coverage :  8 - 10 m2 / litre / coat (actual coverage may vary from 20-50% due to loss factors such as surface profile, application method, dry film thickness, surrounding condition & etc)
No. of Coat :  1 coat
Touch Dry @ 30°C :  1 hour (depends on temperature and humidity)
Recoating Interval :  Minimum 8 hours
Curing Time @ 30°C :  5 - 7 days (depends on temperature and humidity)
Pot Life @ 30°C :  1 hour after mixing of Base and Hardener
Shelf Life :  Minimum 12 months if properly stored

 

Safety, Health & Environment

Ensure good ventilation during painting, do not breathe vapour or spray mist. Keep doors and windows open during application and drying. It is advisable to wear mask and eyes protector while applying. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. In case of accidental ingestion, DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING, seek immediate medical advice. To remove splashes of paint from skin by using water and soap or skin care product. Do not empty paint into drains or water courses, dispose of any paint waste in accordance with the appropriate Environmental Quality Regulations.
